Steerable Drill Guide - Retrograde Drill
The SDG is a steerable drill guide for surgical procedures. The overall function of the mechanism was defined as up to standard. It was intended to be a high-volume, single use disposable device. The device had been prototyped and tested in a few different configurations, and the ratcheting lever activation system was chosen as the best possible mechanism. The device has a spring-loaded handle.
HaA redesigned the handle of the device, including activation levers, slides, etc. The goal was to design the handle using as many plastic parts as feasible without compromising the function of the device. HaA also created a mechanism to denote the angle of the guide, therefore achieving the original goal and creating an improved user experience.
